Allegan County United Way Celebration Event features recent impact and awards

On Tuesday, February 27, Allegan County United Way hosted its LIVE UNITED Celebration event at the Allegan Public Schools Conference Center beginning at 8:00am. During the morning, United Way staff announced the amount raised during the annual community campaign, recognized outstanding campaign companies and volunteers and introduced the 2018 Impact Report.

Director of Community Impact Debbie Jennings announced that the United Way campaign raised a total of $617,407. Top campaign companies and individuals were awarded for their efforts throughout the campaign season. Rockwell Automation earned a Community Builder campaign award and the following organizations earned Silver campaign awards: Allegan County Community Mental Health, Allegan County United Way and Perrigo. The Above and Beyond Award went to Laurie Zywiczynski and the Nonprofit Pinnacle of Partnership Award was given to Community Action Allegan County.

Director of Volunteer Engagement Susan Henderson shared volunteer statistics from the past year. In 2017, United Way had 609 volunteers who gave 2,879 hours of their time, worth $69,499. Volunteer of the Year Garry Muma of Rockwell Automation was also recognized. His support was critical to United Way’s ability to execute the first annual Day of Caring, which took place in October of 2017. Susan Henderson said, “We want to give special recognition to Garry Muma. Without him, Day of Caring would not have been possible. His help with planning and organizing this event went above and beyond.”

Allegan County United Way’s 2018 Impact Report was also launched during the celebration event. The report highlighted United Way’s impact in Allegan County in the past year. To view the report online, go to: www.acuw.org/impact-report-2018.
