On Tuesday, April 25, Allegan County United Way hosted its LIVE UNITED Celebration event at The Silo in Allegan. Throughout the evening, United Way staff announced the total dollars raised during the annual community campaign, recognized outstanding campaign companies and volunteers and introduced the 2017 Community Assessment of Allegan County.

This year, the United Way campaign raised a total of $771,000. Consumer’s Energy earned a gold campaign award and Perrigo earned a silver campaign award, based on a set of campaign criteria. The Out of the Box Award went to the students of Dawson Elementary School for their penny drive, which raised over $600 for the Imagination Library.

Volunteers of the Year were also recognized. JoAnn Flowers received the Volunteer of the Year Award and Lizzie Robinson received the Students Volunteer of the Year Award. Director of Volunteer Engagement Susan Henderson spoke about both volunteers, praising them for their dedication to their communities.

After the awards were presented, Allegan County United Way President Patrick Moran gave a presentation on the first-ever Community Assessment of Allegan County.
