Gun Lake Casino Offers Matching Grant to Help Fund Allegan United Way’s Imagination Library Program

Allegan County United Way and the Allegan Area Educational Service Agency (AAESA) are proud to announce Gun Lake Casino’s continued support of Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library program for children in Allegan County. The Imagination Library program provides free, high-quality books to more than 50% of the children in Allegan County from birth until their fifth birthday, regardless of a family’s income.

Gun Lake Casino stepped up in 2018 as the title sponsor of the Imagination Library program, so it could continue to be available for all kids in Allegan County. Without their support, Imagination Library would no longer have been able to continue operating, due to the increasing enrollment and cost of the program.

In 2019, Gun Lake Casino will continue to support this program as part of Allegan County United Way’s Early Learning Initiative. The Casino will provide a $25,000 gift to support the program as well as a matching grant of up to $25,000.

Vice President and General Manager Jose Flores stated “Gun Lake Casino is proud to support United Way’s Imagination Library for a second year. We recognize the barriers families face when trying to access reading materials for their children. It is our goal to support the education of youth in Allegan County. We hope our continued partnership with United Way and our $25,000 match challenge will encourage other local businesses to recognize and contribute to this worthy cause.”

Allegan County United Way President Patrick Moran said, “We are very excited to continue our Early Learning Initiative partnership with Gun Lake Casino.  Their gift and matching gift challenge will create engagement with the community while providing the vital early learning opportunities our kids need to enter school ready to succeed.
